About the Unit

Volunteers keeping watch over Newcastle’s waterways from our base at Stockton.

Who we are

Marine Rescue Newcastle is one of 46 units of Marine Rescue NSW, the state’s volunteer marine rescue service. Our members crew rescue vessels, staff the radio base, train new volunteers and raise the funds that keep the unit running. No costs are expected for rescues. We’re funded by the community we serve.

2025 was our busiest year yet, with 77 missions. The unit currently has 55 members.
